When Business Uses Its Voice: The Sound of Life at UBN Network Kyiv

When Business Uses Its Voice: The Sound of Life at UBN Network Kyiv

    Trident Group Ukraine — September 18, 2026

Last week, we had the opportunity to share The Sound of Life campaign — its mission, its message, and the deeply human story at its heart — with the UBN Network community in Kyiv.

Our sincere thanks to Andrew Pryma, MBA, Mark McNamee, and the UBN Network team for giving us the space to have this conversation and, most importantly, for helping us bring the voices of Ukrainian children to a wider audience.

Events like this are a powerful reminder of the role private businesses and professional communities can play in supporting humanitarian initiatives. Supporting Ukraine is not only about economic recovery, investment, technology, or rebuilding infrastructure. It is also about people — and about one simple, unshakable belief: every child has the right to grow up in peace, safety, and love.

    The Story Behind the Whistle

At the event, we shared the story behind The Sound of Life and its symbol: an ordinary whistle.

TGU CEO Nick Iltsopoulos first heard the story from a Ukrainian mother. Every night before putting her children to bed, she placed whistles around their necks.

Not as toys. Not as part of a bedtime game.

She did it in case the worst happened — if a Russian missile or drone destroyed their home during the night, the whistles could help rescuers find her children beneath the rubble.

It is difficult to imagine a more heartbreaking transformation of such a simple object. In much of the world, a whistle belongs on a playground or a sports field. In Ukraine, it can become a tool of survival.

That story became the inspiration for The Sound of Life.

Our mission is to make sure the world does not grow accustomed to what Ukrainian children are experiencing. We want their stories to be heard — and we want those stories to lead to action.

Because protecting Ukrainian children also means protecting the skies above them. Air defense is civilian protection. Air defense is child protection. Every missile or drone intercepted before it reaches a home, school, hospital, or playground is a potential life saved.

    Turning Awareness Into Action

At UBN, we asked our audience to help us carry this message further.

Every voice matters. Every person who speaks about Ukrainian children helps make it harder for the world to look away. Every business, organization, diplomat, community leader, or individual who shares this message helps keep Ukraine — and the human cost of Russia’s full-scale invasion — in the public conversation.

But awareness alone is not enough.

We also introduced our trusted partner organizations — Children of Heroes, Voices of Children, and Save Ukraine — which provide vital assistance to children and families affected by the full-scale invasion.

The Sound of Life does not collect donations directly. Instead, we encourage our supporters to donate to trusted organizations doing this work every day. Their support can mean psychological care for a traumatized child, assistance for a family that has lost a parent or a home, education, rehabilitation, or simply the reassurance that a child facing unimaginable loss is not facing it alone.

    The Conversation Continues

One of the most encouraging parts of the UBN event came after the presentation.

Friends, partners, colleagues, and representatives of embassies, chambers of commerce, businesses, and other organizations approached us with ideas. Some offered their voices. Others offered contacts, partnerships, or opportunities to help us reach new audiences.

That is exactly how an awareness campaign grows: one person, one conversation, one new voice at a time. And we need many more voices.

    How You Can Help

    • Request one of our campaign whistles and help carry its message.
    • Take a photo or record a short video with the whistle and share it using #SoundOfLifeCampaign.
    • Follow our social media channels, repost the stories of Ukrainian children, and encourage your friends, colleagues, families, and partners to do the same.
    • Support trusted organizations helping Ukrainian children — Children of Heroes, Voices of Children, and Save Ukraine.
    • Raise your voice for the air defense Ukraine needs to protect its civilians.

A whistle is a very small thing. But when enough people hear it, it becomes impossible to ignore.

Because after the missiles, the greatest danger is silence. Help us make sure the world keeps listening.
